Red wine and white wine are both types of wine that are made from fermented grapes. The main difference between the two is the color of the grapes that are used to make them. Red wine is made from red or black grapes, while white wine is made from white grapes. The skin of red grapes is left on during the fermentation process, which gives red wine its characteristic color. The skin of white grapes is removed before fermentation, which results in a lighter-colored wine.

Red wine is often described as having a fuller body and more complex flavor than white wine. It is typically made from varieties of grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. Red wine is often paired with heartier, full-flavored dishes, such as red meats and pasta with rich sauces.

White wine is typically lighter in body and flavor than red wine. It is made from varieties of grapes such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling. White wine is often paired with lighter dishes, such as seafood and poultry, and can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif.

Both red and white wine can be further classified based on the sweetness of the wine. Dry wines have little to no residual sugar, while sweeter wines have more sugar.
