About Tintara

Where age-old methods blend with new-age techniques, Hardys Tintara winery is being talked about. Established in 1861 and settled in the heart of the McLaren Vale, Tintara serves as the beloved home of Hardys. Thomas Hardy, the founding father of Hardys, purchased the Tintara back in 1876 to take his already successful winemaking venture to new heights. It was a disused flour mill taken over by Thomas who acknowledged the potential hidden in the unique soils of McLaren Vale.

Located on the main street of the region, Hardys Tintara has been instrumental in turning his vision of creating exceptional quality Australian wines into reality. His passion for winemaking had him convinced that Tintara is a name soon going to be a testament to the outstanding calibre of McLaren Vale. No wonder Tintara winery in today’s date is an epitome of Thomas’ top-class winemaking, which is making age-old methods come together with new-age techniques to create wines as remarkable as the region.

McLaren Vale is home to a significant number of wineries but Hardys Tintara is one of the few to have its grapevines planted at a time when the region wasn’t even famous for its excellent wine-growing abilities. No wonder Hardys Tintara has been and will be at the heart and soul of McLaren Vale.

Core Range

Hardys Tintara Range features wines that belong to four different categories, namely Core, Geology, T Series and Premium. Core range wines are a true expression of McLaren Vale’s terroir, including appropriate climatic conditions, thin soils, natural topography and everything that contribute to the making of these finest wines.

The Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale brings four clear seasons. It’s a dry warm summer season from December to around March that makes for an easy transition from summer to winter. The weather is somewhat mild with relatively warm days and cool nights. McLaren’s terroir harnesses the natural vigour of vines and produces intensely flavoursome fruits that in turn lead to the creation of deep-coloured wines that can potentially last for decades. What distinguishes McLaren wines from others are their ripeness, structure, elegance, complexity and potency.
